Chapter 3 – A shadowy Meeting
Csilla Shrowd found herself walking through the graveyard where her first encounter with magic had happened. She had tried to forget that day, the terrible day she lost her brother. The trouble was her mind wouldn’t let her forget, so she replayed the day in her mind. The day was a Thursday nothing special but the clouds overhead were extremely dark and threatening. They seemed to ooze evil and as they walked Csilla thought she could see eyes watching her and her brother. They decided to go through the graveyard because it would cut off of their journey, back then the graveyard was new and had only a few graves. “I’m scared Fletcher” Csilla blurted, “Don’t worry, not much further now sis” replied Fletcher. Suddenly they were surrounded by men in black outfits, all with fire in their hands aimed at Fletcher. “Let my sister go, she hasn’t done anything” pleaded Fletcher, the response came from a man to his left, “No one lives, anyone who knows of us dies and thanks to you, your sister knows”
Fletcher knew they both wouldn’t survive this attack but he knew one man who could get his sister to safety and that was all that mattered. “Lupus, Now” Fletcher yelled, out of nowhere a wolf leaped out of the ground and grabbed Csilla pulling her into a grave, while this distracted the men around Fletcher he took out a sword and the blade turned to ice. He started attacking the men around him, each one turning to ice and shattering as the sword passed through their flesh. The leader then thrust his palm out and Fletcher flew backwards into a tree cracking his spine but with his last breath he managed to say “She will live…. She will help him…and they will bring you down….” Then his body slumped to the ground. After the men had gone and Lupus knew it was clear, he brought the confused Csilla out of the grave. “My name is Lupus Forerunner and I am going to take care of you”
Ever since then Csilla had trusted that stranger who saved her life, and now he needed her help. She got up from her brothers grave and saw the familiar mustang pull up. From the drivers side Lupus got out followed by a vampire and a kid, as they approached Csilla noticed that Lupus had the flowers he always brought for her brother. “Hello, Old friend” she said, Lupus looked hurt but then burst into a huge grin and hugged her, “Old? I’m only two hundred and nineteen. Anyway it’s good to see you again, truly it has been too long.” “yes it has, and compared to me you are old. I see your friends haven’t improved much over the years” she said. “Now play nice, these are my colleagues, this is Matta Walker. He is my apprentice and has the ability to walk through walls. Now this is Professor Nick Hellion, Scientist and Vampire.” They shook hands and then all of them headed back to the car. “So how can I help you Lupus?” Csilla asked, “there are reports coming in of the old demons rising, but also I believe it’s linked to a group of mercenaries called the Grinning Death.”
Lupus said. “Sorry, but why are you called Lupus?” Matta butted in. “Because your one of the rare mages who can transform into an animal, that’s how you were able to track me, am I right?” asked Nick. “yes, your right. I’m one of the last of the Animage. We have been killed off for centuries because the magical world thinks we are dangerous. My form is the wolf, one of the hardest forms to take.” He paused as if deciding what to say and what not to say then carried on “I have been tasked with creating a team to fight the rising demons, and I believe each of you have a skill that will help. Plus I owe your brother alot Csilla, he saved me. On the night he died he asked me a favour that would make us even, he asked me to watch and protect you.”
Chapter 4 – A message from the Past
As Lupus drove on with the others keeping to themselves, he thought to himself about how much had changed in two hundred years. Not just the world but also how he had changed, he remembered being a young soldier called out to war. He remembered about the friends he made and lost, he thought about the memories of loved ones he had lost. Then he decided not to dwell on the past because he had a mission to do, he had a world to save. Lupus pulled up outside of a run down council estate and got out of the car. The others made to follow but he gestured them to stop, “I have to meet them alone, they don’t like change and new people” “but they could be dangerous and how do you know they will even be here?” asked Matta. “Because they sent me a message, before I picked you up. Plus they don’t want a war, they need to talk” replied Lupus, Matta had one last question before he would be happy “Who or what are they?” “ They are werewolves, I know them through my time being a wolf. They are loyal and they might be the only ones who know the truth about what happen with the murder.” With that Lupus walked into the nearest building.
He walked to the fifth floor and knocked on the door marked by a paw print, this was the symbol for a werewolf base and made it harder for humans to stumble upon by accident. A man with an unruly beard answered the door, “well, well, if it isn’t one eye himself, how long has it been?” “Too long shamus, way too long.” The two of them shook hands and entered the apartment. “I got your message, you said you have news about the murder.” Said Lupus, “always down to business with you, yes we have news but you won’t like it.” Shamus replied, “it’s a creature by the name of Grinny DeMorte. He claims to be a demon from Beneath time.”
Lupus was silent for a moment then said “This is bad, the demons from Beneath time were sealed there over a millennia ago by the race known as ancients. If the seal is broken we have trouble coming. I must ask if you will stand with us if a war comes, you and your people will be needed.” Shamus lowered his head before responding. “My clan will fight with you but the others, I cannot say. There have been fights between clans recently and old rivalries have begun again. I will try to get them to see sense, although I fear they will not. Take care One Eye, I will answer the call to battle but remember we are few so save it till a dire moment.”
“I promise I will only call you when there is no other option, Look after yourself Shamus, I look forward to hunting with you many more times.” Lupus said as he began to leave. When he reached his car, the others were waiting expectantly, “I see your unharmed, what did they have to say?” asked Csilla, “They are trust worthy creatures, and they confirmed my greatest fear. We have a great battle ahead of us, and I fear we will not be ready it.”
